Curious - I've always taken "tosser" to be a slightly milder version of
"wanker", since it effectively means the same thing. the phrase "tossing
oneself off" meaning to masturbate. So, I would have thought it closer to
the American term "jerk", since I believe "jerking off" is a phrase for
masturbation.

You might also hear the phrase "couldn't give a toss".
