seconding recommendations

I've got two book recommendations to second. These were initially recommended
by folks here and I had the good sense to pay attention to them.

First, Bernard recommended Ben Aaronovitch's "Rivers of London" series. I've
read the first two of these and I loved them. I'm probably going to read the
third in the next month or so. These are police procedurals (I think that's
the term) where the police in question are those that handle the weird cases
for the London police.

The American version of the first in the series is called "Midnight Riot".
That's a terrible title for an excellent book. The eponymous riot was an
important part of the book, but not an overarching part of it.

Second, Alexandre recommended "The Orc of Many Questions". This dealt with
an adolescent orc who asks too many question. This had a really great orc
culture -- much better than the "fight, kill, pillage" culture most orc books
present. I'm looking forward to the next one in the series.

Thanks for the recommendations! I really appreciate y'all telling me about
those books.

Here's another recommendation, but I stumbled on this rather than it being
recommended to me. "Nine Goblins" by T. Kingfisher was also excellent. It's
about nine goblins (oddly enough) who are involved in the goblin wars against
humans and elves. Again, much more than merely "fight, kill, pillage" and
the goblins have distinctive personalities. I also just discovered that T.
Kingfisher is the pseudonym of Ursula Vernon, who did "Digger".

So, how are they doing?

They seemed good, but I had no comparison, as it was the first time I met them in person.  They were happy when I mentioned I took part in The Mythic Cafe group on Facebook, but seemed to really light up when I mentioned Tamson House.

And what was the Spoutwood Fairie Fest?

A 3 day festival at an organic CSA farm in Glen Rock PA ~ this was my first time going.  Think I found out about last year's event a day or two after it was over.   More info here: http://www.spoutwood.org/fairie-festival

PS Tell 'em if they get to Worldcon this summer I'll do my best to be there and meet them. :)

We'll have to hope that they're still reading the list for them to see this ~ and I don't think they are, as they may not have made the transition when we jumped from the old format to the current one.

Yep, it's not a BBC production.  I think it's a Canadian production company, and BBC America picked it up in the US. According to Wiki, it's distributed further by BBC Worldwide.

I just watched the second episode of the second series (season) on I-Player. It still has me hooked big time. Tatiana Maslany is amazing, and I love Felix.

Envy, envy for your holiday in Greece. Some friends here in England were there recently and had a great time also.
