Yeah, it went on against something else I watched/liked better before I
had a DVR so it lost out.

Thanks Ellen! I'm sitting here with a cup of tea, preparing for my
post-meal food coma. Small Thanksgiving, me, Tony, and my dad, but nice.
Means we could do buffet-style and eat in the living room, rather than
drag the table into the living room (ever since they upgraded our
kitchen, it's just not easy to eat in there if it's more than two
people, but honestly, I'd rather have the washer/dryer in the apartment).

Re: question about Arrow (spoilers)

Re Bones...

I was able to forgive the show for not being the books, although it took some time.

However, I couldn't forgive the show for losing its mind. First up was the case of Zach. From there, it just seemed to get worse. There were times when Ian and I would look at each other and ask why we were watching the show.

Last show, here in the UK, Bones was up against two other shows we liked, so we just stopped watching it.

However, I still read the books. :)

Ellen

PS Happy Thanksgiving to those of you in the US. Today was just another work day here in England, but we'll have a festive Chanukah meal on the weekend when we're both here and are awake enough to cook it. (This week has been busy.)

I'm a few episodes behind but so far I like it. I was sad there were no
Amells on my TV last night though. (You do know Stephen Amell's brother
is the lead in Tomorrow People, right?)

I'm waiting for Sunday when Sundance is airing The Returned episodes I
missed. Then I can watch the whole show! People coming back from the
dead. In French.

My Boney-o regrets are how much it sucked over the last several seasons.

There's also the new Tomorrow People. I'm trying to like it, but I'm
having trouble caring about the characters.

"What I got that day by sharing my story in front of the Labor Committee today was nothing short of redemption. The redemption of my dignity. Nobody can take that away. There is no turning back now, in this fight for domestic workers' rights.” - Sonia Soares, proud housekeeper of 28 years

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE MA DOMESTIC WORKERS' BILL OF RIGHTS!

Two weeks ago, on Tuesday November 12th, in a historic moment for Massachusetts, domestic workers, employers and community partners gathered at the MA statehouse before the Joint Labor and Workforce Development Committee for the first public hearing for the MA Domestic Workers’ Bill of Rights, H. 1750/S. 882. Over 100 supporters packed the hearing room to listen to a series of testimonies from workers, domestic employers, and allies as to why the Bill of Rights makes sense for the Commonwealth. After the hearing we channeled all the amazing energy into the Domestic Workers Slide near the Grand Hall of the State House. We got moves and we've only just begun our work! After celebrating the day in dance we then visited all the legislators and dropped off house shaped cookies as a sweet reminder to support the Bill of Rights! A special thank you to Boston Workmen's Circle for baking and coordinating this activity.  Finally, we shared a meal, exchanged stories of struggle and organizing, and sang, with our South African Domestic Workers Delegation sisters.  This was truly a powerful and inspiring day thanks to all of our supporters.
The MA Domestic Workers' Bill of Rights establishes labor standards for domestic workers assures basic workplace rights, and treats domestic workers with the dignity and respect that they deserve. Nannies, caregivers and housekeepers keep Massachusetts running by caring for our families and our homes and it is about time our policies reflect and reward them!

“We do the work that makes all other work possible – it’s time to recognize the hard work that helps build the strong families of Massachusetts,” - Priscilla Farser, proud nanny

We look forward for your continued support in winning dignity and respect!

Best wishes,

I struggled through the end of last season. At the end, the season's Big Bad
called Booth and said, "You can never marry Brennan or <bad thing happens>.
You can never tell her why either, and I'll know if you do." That put the
final nail in the coffin for me. All the stupid things they'd done with the
show, and all the character regressions, most of what was going on, it was
easy to call it quits.

We just watched the pilot and really liked it. We're looking forward to
more of them.

It's been a week of starts. We also just started the Clara Dr. Who's and
Torchwood season 1.

True. I guess it was just a slip-up and we'll have to leave it at that.

It'll probably be a week or two (if not a month or two) before I can get
to it, but it'd unreasonable for me to expect y'all not to talk about it
before then. So, a big spoiler warning in the subject line would be
greatly appreciated.

We considered it, as it was playing (and will be played again) at the arthouse we like that's 18 miles away. But it was fine just on the TV.

Watched it last night. I don't think it's been answered, though. Without
getting into spoilerific discussions, I'll say that Ollie didn't seem
perturbed by the epitaph. If Wednesday's episode was the answer, then he'd
have been a teensy bit upset at the gravesite for non-Tommy issues.

Really good episode.

Well... That would work, certainly. It's three times as many syllables
to be a useful replacement for "taped".

Very true. The fact that it is my last semester just compounds the readiness.

School assignment

I'm taking a class called Reader's Advisory this semester. One of the reoccurring assignments is to type up a one page book annotation, and do a book talk.  Since this week we're doing Fantasy, I decided to use Charles de Lint's "Moonlight and Vines".  I hope the class likes it!

I am really sad to hear this. Suzi was such a fantastic part of the THing. She made everybody feel welcome and was great to talk to. I am now really sorry that I lost touch with her. She will be missed. I hope that her passing will go as gently as possible for all involved.

A sad day, I did not get the chance to meet her; but I have enjoyed our Tamson House conversations.
I will send my best intentions and prayers for her to have a peaceful and comfortable end.
