The books I buy for the Kindle tend to be ones marked down temporarily or ones not published in the UK that are a lot cheaper that way than in imported paper form; I've bought a few at 99p each. Thanks to Katrina, I also do some on-line surveys that pay in Amazon gift vouchers.

Also on Kindle, you can adjust the font size. Often I get books for
zero on it. I've had FaceBook writer friends give away their books
through Kindle, in celebration of one thing or another, for just one
day. Then there's a daily (supposed to be: usually more like once every
two or three days) "posting" called "Free Books on Kindle" which aren't
actually free, usually 99¢, for the day, and usually books that I don't
even want, (that feature is big on Romances and Erotica (aka Porn), but
sometimes it has something). Then there's the "Kindle Daily Deal" that
shows up every day in the Kindle Store, usually better books, sometimes
great books, that are usually 99ç or slightly more for the one day.
That one comes by e-mail. I've also found books that I was actually
searching the store for for zero -- generally those that are out of
copyright and already available on the web. But _all_ of them are
lower-priced than brand-new on paper. I do believe that I've saved more
than enough in the last year to pay for the Kindle itself, and I most
surely wouldn't have had enough room in the house for the paper copies:
I don't even have enough room in the house for the books that I refuse
to part with now! And I live eight miles from the nearest public
library, which probably wouldn't have the one that I want, once I got
there (it's a small-town library, with not that much volume inside).
