Most of their rooms don't seem to have the miniwall. I've only been in two that did. The hotel has been irregularly and unevenly redone several times by the look of it, but it still maintains that sprawling ambience of 1988. The only real damning thing I can say about it is that I've never been there when the bar was open.
I know I talked about this on FB already, but man those Winchester rooms and their half walls are amazing. The locations are beautifully cast (or made, whichever).
