We were going for a cheap wedding so that we could afford to travel to the US the next week. We had a civil wedding at a local registry office at around 11.30am on a Saturday. As it about lunchtime after the wedding and friends who lived a five-minute walk from the registry office opened up their house and garden (it was a warm, sunny day) as a reception/party site, we had a lunch party at their house. They provided the venue and food as a present. We provided drinks and cake.
