I just finished "Ghost Point" by James A Hetley. I've read his earlier
"Urban" Fantasy novels, and like them very much. He's a lot like
deLint, but he does have his own voice, and just keeps getting better
and better. (He was pretty darn good in the first ones). This one is
set in 1979, and opens in Vietnam (a nightmare flashback of Vietnam,
actually), and continues through the Maine backwoods and ocean. Nothing
"urban" about it.
It's available on Kindle, and two other e-book formats from
www.bookviewcafe.com. I'm filing it in my CdL file on my Kindle, it's
just too good to lose with all the junk in my Fantasy file, and a lot
like having a new deLint. I hope some time it will be available on
paper: e-books to me seem to lack the permanence of paper. I've learned
from sad experience how quickly computer formats get obsolete!
