Reminder! JwJ Steering Committee Meeting Thursday, October 18th

JOBS WITH JUSTICE QUARTERLY STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING
Thursday, October 18th at 6pm
UNITE HERE Local 26

33 Harrison Ave, Boston MA
Orange Line/Chinatown

Dear Sisters & Brothers,

This is just a quick update on our campaign work and a reminder about our upcoming steering committee meeting on Thursday, October 18th at 6PM at UNITE HERE Local 26 (33 Harrison Ave. Boston, MA). We had to reschedule the last meeting due to a conflict with the debates and other coalition partner meetings.  We will hear reports from our campaigns,  stake out our priorities for the next three months, and discuss organizational planning.

Here is a quick update on what’s been going on:

Faith and Justice Trivia! Does your team have a prayer? Come out and help Interfaith Worker Justice keep the faith alive at trivia night on Wednesday, October 17th at 6PM at Doyle’s in Jamaica Plain.  Click here for more details!

JwJ 20th Birthday! Thanks to Gillian’s hard work, we had  over 100 people party down hard at our birthday bash!  Totally fun and we can’t wait for the next one!

Verizon! Verizon workers are in the process of voting on their new contract.  Whatever the outcome, they would not have gotten this far without all of your solidarity! Great work from our coalition members who made a difference; we can’t thank you all enough for all you did for these folks.

Stand up to Walmart!
We had a very successful day of at at Walmarts across the state on October 10th.  Email Edwin at edwin@massjwj.net for more info on how you can get involved.

Campaign to Protect Public Education!  Jasiela, Lily and Ada have been busy building a network of support for teachers in communities across the Commonwealth.  They will be calling you to ask to speak about the campaign at your meetings and with your membership as we fight to protect public education, which faces many corporate-bankrolled challenges.

We look forward to seeing you on October 18th!  If you would like to include something on the agenda, please contact
Russ at russdavis@comcast.net.

Thanks again for your hard work on behalf of workers’ rights!

In solidarity,

Edwin Argueta,  Jasiela Chaves,  Russ Davis,  Jennifer Doe, Paul Drake, Ada Fuentes,  Mary Hewey,  Lily Huang, Gillian Mason, James Razsa
