Hasn't it always? I mean... it's LONDON. It's where all the hopes and dreams of the British people go to sputter before they die. Whether finance, entertainment, politics or any other field, London is where you go to fail miserably at being at the top of the game. You'd need to combine New York, DC and Los Angeles into one raggedy capital of a failed empire to harvest such an array of failed dreams here in the states.
No, even New Yorkers respect London. Londoners share the madness that comes from being just fucking tired.
I remember the first time I was there, the news was covering a story about the young man who mugged a pensioner. The pensioner apparently removed his prosthetic leg and gave the mugger a savage, savage beating. I saw that and I thought, "this is a hell of a town." If you expect madness, London never lets you down.
