It seems that there's not just a sense that bad teaching is responsible for the downfall of civilization, but that teachers are lazy folk who won't do any work unless threatened. I can only imagine how much you just *love* that level of bull.
I'd be interested to hear your opinion of the other side of that observation rigamarole if and when you decide to pursue it. God only knows if it would suit you, but there's a lot to be said for intelligent, thoughtful, and experienced people taking on those duties.
