Sometimes they are aired on satellite/cable* channels, but we don't have to pay an extra fee per month just for that channel. That's why I don't watch more American sports. ESPN America is an extra £10 a month. I like watching the occasional basketball or baseball or hockey game/match, but I've never liked it enough to pay £10 a month even in the best of financial times. Sometimes HBO/Showtime programmes appear on freeview here. For example, FX airs True Blood first and then Channel 4 picks it up.
