Watching pilots is an exercise in futility. Since I don't get broadcast tv where I live, I just tend to wait until I at least know that the show won't get punched out on a cliffhanger.
Speaking of… Godamned "Outcasts." Netflix suckered me on that one. Limited series my hairy ass! It was cancelled! Just as the mine car was hurtling toward the fiery pit of doom!
I think that's what most confuses me about all of the Game of Thrones hoopla. I remember reading a couple of those books about a decade ago, being mildly entertained, and deciding that it would be best to make sure that the series got finished before I bothered to read any more of them. Then, of course, it turned out that there weren't any more of them for quite some time. For the sake of the fragile fanboys, I truly hope that George Martin is in incredibly good health.
