You should see the channel we have here called "Dave (the home of witty
banter)"

It's daytime listing seems to read - Top Gear, Top Gear, Fifth Gear (a
rival show modelled very closely on the original), Fifth Gear, Helicopter
Rescue, Helicopter Rescue, Best of Top Gear, Ray Mears, The Gadget Show,
Top Gear, Top Gear....

The evening schedules aren't much more varied, but at least then, they show
repeats of Mock the Week, Have I Got News for You etc.

Ah, whatever became of Top Gear when serious-minded folks spoke long and
seriously (and it has to be said, boringly) of the features and benefits of
different cars? I have been known to watch the present incarnation (did
you see what I did there?), purely as mindless background noise. Trouble
is, Jeremy Clarkson tends to make me want to leap through the TV screen and
try to beat that smug expression off his face with a tire iron shouting
"Shut the fuck up, you misogynist prick!"

Ian

(I'm quite prepared to believe that Clarkson, in real life, is a lot less
annoying that his on-screen/page persona. He sometimes guests on panel quiz
shows and lets things slip, like he is very fond of, and sentimental about
his assorted pets. And, I will give him credit, although he dishes it out,
he will take it too. Doesn't stop my fists itching when I see him on Top
Gear though.)
