Pern I stopped reading after the initial runs. I think the last one I read was the one about the golden dragon rider starting with an M who time-traveled to deliver a medical cure. It just seemed to be written in an uninspired fashion. After that, I heard the the books crossed the line into terribleness.

I wouldn't say "terribleness" about Pern, it's just that I _have_ most
of them but the last couple: I read the first as a serial in Analog. I
will admit that Todd MacCaffrey doesn't have the touch that his mother
had, but his contributions have been quite acceptable ordinary SF, not
terrible.

I love Darkover too, but the main problem I have there is that they keep
getting reissued under new titles, or in anthologies of threes,
(especially for the ancient very slim paperback novels) and it's
difficult to tell whether I've read them or not. I've been intending to
try to figure them out, and get them shelved in one place in order, so I
can see what's new: there are at least a couple that she left behind her
in charge of her Greyhaven writers, that are at least partly hers, and I
do want to read those. And just getting shelved all that I _have_ could
be a project: I suspect that there are several buried deep in boxes in
my garage.
