My mother baked and decorated my cake. A fact I was particularly proud
of, as it was every bit as splendid as any bought cake, but she would
rather have had people think that she'd bought it. Three tiers,
pillars, favours and cake topper - very traditional.

I was married, briefly, and my mother made my cake - a double ring cake; for which she learned the fine art of cake decorating.
my wedding was in a garden; family and friends.
I was underage, so no drinking - except in Canada where we spent a long weekend.
I have always been astounded at the rapacious, usurious, and generally overpriced services that we are told are 'mandatory' for a wedding.
